2026 ACG Chongli 168 Ultra-Trail Race, also referred to as "Chongli 168," recently concluded in Chongli District, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. The event saw participation from athletes representing 26 countries and regions, including 204 elite competitors.

Having evolved from a niche event with just over 2,000 runners in its inaugural year of 2017, Chongli 168 has become a benchmark race for global trail running enthusiasts and has been held for a decade. This year marked the second time the race recruited environmental runners, with 200 participants dedicating themselves as environmental guardians. This reporter was among them, experiencing "Leave No Trace" trail running and heading towards a greener future.

Trail environments have limited carrying capacity, and waste is slow to decompose naturally, necessitating a "Leave No Trace" approach for hikers and trail runners, requiring them to pack out all refuse. Environmental runners contribute to preserving clean mountain environments for future hikers by collecting trash on the course, sorting waste, and avoiding single-use items. In addition to these efforts, the environmental guardians also engaged in activities such as green transportation, clothing donations, and upcycling old shoes.
